organized training course titled “Sign Language in the Holy Qur’an
The Continuing Education Division at Al-Safwa University College, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy, organized a two-day training course titled “Sign Language in the Holy Qur’an.”
The course was delivered by:
Lect. Dr. Enas Hamza Al-Araji
The primary objective of the course was to explore the reasons behind the use of sign language in the Holy Qur’an and to determine whether sign language effectively conveys ideas and meanings. Additionally, it aimed to identify the most frequently used body parts in sign communication.
One of the key reasons for the incorporation of sign language alongside spoken language in the Qur’an is its ability to enhance communication, making it more effective and comprehensible. Sign language also facilitates the expression of natural reactions and emotional sentiments that may not always be conveyed through verbal communication. Unlike spoken language, which primarily relies on the mouth and tongue, sign language utilizes various body parts, including the hands, face, head, and body. Moreover, the movements used in sign language are more visually engaging, capturing the attention of the recipient more effectively than spoken words.
